Saying something with a portrait is difficult.
Like expressing love with a touch of a nose.
Being able to submit.
The light has to fall in a different way than usual.
Enjoying the play.
And then, out of the blue, photography transforms into a mystery. Suddenly, people don’t look the way we know them – but the way we dream about them. They appear more real than possible. The light runs through their bodies; they are beautiful and ugly, unsure and caught off guard, firm and truthful. Then, I think about the dreams they have, the anxieties that possess them, the daylight and shadows, the night…me?
